Deputies Investigate Burn Victim after Meth Lab Explosion

A severely burned man is being questioned by police as to the cause of his injuries.

When the South Carolina man showed up at a hospital with severe burns, he initially told doctors that he had been burned while burning trash. Unfortunately, doctors feel that his burns are more from the result of chemical burns. A woman treated with similar injuries is being questioned as well.

Police in the area are of the impression that the chemical burns were the result of an explosion in a methamphetamine lab. The lab was reportedly housed in a mobile home and burned last week.

11-year-old Burn Victim in Critical Condition

August 12th, 2008 · No Comments

Tyler Morgan, an 11-year-old boy from Orem, UT, is in critical condition with burns covering over 25% of his body.  He was admitted to University Hospital on August 11th after playing with his friends took a dangerous and unexpected turn.

Morgan was with a group of 5 or 6 friends playing at a local elementary school when they decided to tie Morgan to a pole using toilet paper.  The boys then made a “wrestling ring” around Morgan using poles and more toilet paper, a strand of which one of the boys set on fire.

Unfortunately, the boys (aged 8-11) did not realize how quickly the fire would spread and the boys were unable to extinguish the fire before Morgan sustained severe burns.  The boys tried to stamp out the fire themselves, but when they realized the severity of the situation, one of them ran to Morgan’s house, located nearby, to get his father.

His father took him to Orem Community Hospital, after which Morgan was flown by helicopter to University Hospital because of the extent of his injuries.

Chemical Spill Sends People to the Hospital

August 5th, 2008 · No Comments

A chemical spill at a factory put several civilians in danger.  At around 9:45 p.m. at a Goodyear plant in California, two reactors exploded, releasing a harmful chemical into the air.  As a result, several people were sent to the hospital to get checked out.

The explosion sent ParaBenzene into the air and onto a nearby public highway.  This chemical can cause irritation to the eyes and throat.  It can also cause respiratory problems.  Authorities believe that somewhere between seven and ten people receive medical treatment, including one man who checked himself in to a local hospital after experiencing breathing problems.

Police believe that there are several people who may have driven through the chemical and exposed themselves to its toxins unknowingly.  A small fire resulted after the explosion took place, but it was contained within fifteen minutes.

Companies should be held accountable for anything that happens at the plant.  If people are injured because of it, they should take care of the situation accordingly.  If you would like to explore your options, call the burn injury law specialists of the Williams Kherkher firm at 866.950.9000.
